Details: We have Houston client with a immediate need seismic processing software developer. This is a salaried position with a dynamic seismic software and services company working out of their west Houston / Katy area office.
The company is is a rapidly growing technology leader of Seismic Imaging services, Software Solutions and Commercial Software Development in the Oil and Gas Exploration Industry. They are seeking high energy, team-oriented, motivated geophysicists to help us grow their velocity estimation team. Your responsibilties would include:
- Working with lead of the velocity estimation team to define goals and scope of research projects.
- Developing seismic processing software, with emphasis on velocity estimation.
- Proposing new research directions for the development of next generations processing tools.
- Accessing feasibility based on user needs and company strategic directions.
- Interacting with the user-base to report and propose enhancements to the software.
- Presenting technical papers at conferences, to customers and to internal users.
You be a fit, you'll need to match the following requirements:
- MS or PhD in geophysics, or closely related field (Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Petroleum)
- 5+ years experience in development of seismic processing software.
- Detailed knowledge of geophysical concepts, three-dimensional seismic processing and imaging techniques
- Detailed knowledge of tomography, inversion techniques, and other velocity estimation techniques.
- Experience developing applications on a Linux/Unix environment.
- Experience in design, development and deployment of velocity analysis and seismic imaging applications using parallel computation is highly desired.
- Detailed knowledge of C and/or Fortran is required.
- Experience in working with a product development team in an agile software development environment
Any experience in the following are great, but not required:
- Big plus if you have developed applications on in a cluster environment.
- knowledge of parallel programming
